We are nearly there!
Stages 3 & 4 – 2019-2020
Following the announcement of $11.75 million for CSC in the 2018 State Budget, work is underway to finish the redevelopment of the Blakeley Road campus. The design of the final two precincts was completed at the end of February 2019. Building is due to commence in Term 3 with the demolition of most of the old buildings (see diagram above) leaving the administrative offices, library and the 300 block. Completing two stages at once will reduce the overall length of the building project with construction estimated to take 15-18 months to start the 2021 school year in our new facilities.
There will be a new Artisans precinct with art and textiles rooms, a multi-media lab, Steiner and general purpose classrooms, staff work and meeting rooms and the school canteen. The Performers precinct will also be completed as detailed below in Stage 2.5 below.
The administrative building will include a large and beautiful library, spaces for our Wellbeing program including Doctors in School and the Calm Learning Space, indoor and outdoor staff social areas, conference rooms, offices for the executive and administration teams and a large and welcoming entrance easily accessible from Lawson Parade.
As illustrated above, the Administration, Artisans, Performers and Engineers buildings will frame and interact with an internal, landscaped piazza.
With assistance from Mount Alexander Shire Council, Lawson Parade will be modified to create an enhanced pick up and drop off zone and parking. The north-eastern staff carpark will also be modified.
Stage 2.5 — 2017-2018
In mid 2017 building of the planned Performers’ precinct commenced with additional funds available following the completion of the Engineers’ precinct. This building was ready for the start of the 2018 school year and includes a music classroom, instrumental music practice rooms, a recording studio, drama room, toilet facilities and staff work areas. General purpose classrooms, instructional kitchen and dining spaces, as well as re-purposing of the old gymnasium into an auditorium/theatre is planned as part of Stage 3 to complete the Performers’ precinct.
Stage 2 — 2015-2016
The Engineers’ precinct was constructed during 2016. With more science labs, technology facilities for woodwork, metalwork, automotive studies, a 3D printing area, toilet facilities and general purpose classrooms, our students are thriving in these new learning environments. 2016 also saw the building of additional work areas for teaching and support staff.
Stage 1 — 2011-12
Construction commenced in 2011 with the building of our Wellbeing precinct. We have a fantastic new gymnasium, best-practice science labs, general purpose classrooms, offices for staff, new toilets and change rooms.
