Mentor Program

What is a Mentor teacher?

A Mentor teacher is a staff member who has the most one-on-one contact with students. They meet in Mentor Groups on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for 10 minutes in their Home Room. Each group has a maximum of 16 students. Mentor teachers check in with students and provide information on school events and news. On Wednesdays Mentor Groups meet for 30 minutes for the CSC Extended Mentor Wellbeing Program.

Mentor teachers are assigned are assigned at the end of the previous year for the following year. A Start of Year information pack is posted to families in the middle of January. This pack will indicate who each student’s Mentor teacher will be.

The Mentor teacher assigned will also be your main point of contact for parents and carers if they have any questions or concerns about their child’s academic progress or wellbeing at school.

Mentor Day

There is a formal opportunity to meet with Mentor teachers on Mentor Day and we encourage all parents, carers and students to attend. Mentor Day held on the first day of term 1. This is a non-teaching day as students officially start classes on the second day of term 1. However to meet with their Mentor teacher, students need to attend on the first day.

Later in the year, during terms two and three, there are more opportunities to meet with Mentor teachers during the Student, Parent and Teacher Conferences.

How to contact a Mentor teacher

As staff will be mostly teaching during the day, the best way to contact a Mentor teacher is via email.
